Vitamin B5, also known as vitamin W or pantothenic acid helps the skin stay soft, hydrated and healthy. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect that can help stimulate the healing processes of the skin. Its deeply moisturizing helps keep the skin sated, absorbing moisture from the air.
It’s found in small amounts in many foods, such as egg yolk, liver, kidneys, dairy products, yeast, cabbage, broccoli, sweet potatoes, fish, lobsters, whole grains, mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, and legumes, but to see some benefit you would have to eat them in abundance. Foods that are to be prepared for consumption, if cooked at a high temperature (greater than 110 C) can destroy the vitamin.

Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is found in combination with its sister vitamins in vitamin B complex, which includes vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, and folic acid. They don’t always include all the B vitamins.
The oral doses of vitamin B5 are 5-10 mg daily. It’s very important not to ingest large amounts of vitamin B5 by this route since it has different side effects: nausea, stomach pain, diarrhea, and hair loss. If used excessively as a topical, it can cause contact dermatitis and irritation.
